TSA Agent Arrested, Brother Killed In Child Porn Investigation
(Miami-Dade, FL) --One man is dead and another is in custody following a child pornography search warrant in Miami-Dade. Officials say 25-year-old Cristian Barata, a TSA agent, faces multiple charges, including possession and promotion of child sexual abuse material. His brother, 21-year-old Christopher Barata, was shot and killed after confronting authorities with a weapon. No deputies were injured during the operation, and officials say Cristian has confessed. TSA has revoked his access and duties.
Man Arrested After Stolen Vehicles, Engines Bound For UAE Found At PortMiami
(Miami-Dade, FL) --Authorities are investigating multiple stolen vehicles and engines bound for the United Arab Emirates that were found in a shipping container at PortMiami. Officials say 47-year-old Roohullah Abdul-Rauof was arrested and faces hundreds of charges such as dealing in stolen property and grand theft of vehicles. Officials also found nearly 300 vehicle titles that were not properly transferred to Abdul-Rauof's business, Shine Motors. Abdul-Rauof was ordered to surrender his passport, and he has been cited as a flight risk.
Brevard County Sheriff's Office Announces Major Drug Arrest
(Titusville, FL) --A man is facing charges after what the Brevard County Sheriff's Office calls a major arrest. The BCSO announced yesterday Maxwell Horvath was arrested on drug and weapons charges. The drugs seized had a street value of more than four-and-a-half million dollars.
Firefighter Arrested For Attacking Teens In Broward County
(Lighthouse Point, FL) -- A Palm Beach County firefighter is facing criminal charges in Broward County.Highland Beach Firefighter-Paramedic Alex Lutz [[ luts ]] was arrested Monday in Lighthouse Point. Lighthouse Point Police say he attacked a group of teenagers with a baseball bat after they rang his doorbell and then ran away.Lutz is facing charges that include aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He's also on paid administrative leave at the Highland Beach Fire Rescue Department.
Wild Animal Creates Den Under Home
(Altadena, CA) --The bear that crawled under a home in Altadena, California more than a week ago is still there. Ken Johnson lives there and says he can't get the beast to leave, so he's forced to live with it. Johnson says he's had numerous calls with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. They suggested using a fan to vent ammonia fumes into the crawlspace but he fears what the bear would do. Thankfully, he says, the only damage so far has been to his trashcan.
