OIA Braces For Thanksgiving Travel

(Orlando, FL) -- Today could be one of the busiest days of the week at Orlando International Airport. About 160-thousand people are expected to pass through MCO. Yesterday was even busier, but no major problems were reported. One man traveling to New York tells News 6 it was good, quick and easy. The busiest days of the Thanksgiving holiday will start next Saturday, and Sunday is expected to be the busiest. AAA estimates that nearly 82-million people will be traveling over the holidays, which is up two percent from last year. The FAA says it's expecting the busiest Thanksgiving travel season in 15 years, as airlines get up and running again after the shutdown. "The New York Times" says more travelers will be traveling by train and bus this year to avoid flight delays and cancellations.

ISS Study Shows Moss Can Live In Outer Space

(Sapporo) -- Moss can survive in outer space. A study published Thursday in the journal iScience says an experiment was conducted aboard the International Space Station in 2022 to see if moss could survive if it was attached to the outside of the ISS and was exposed to the extreme conditions of space. The researchers at Hokkaido University in Japan say not only did the moss survive after nine months, but it was still capable of reproducing after it returned to Earth. The lead author of the study called it "striking evidence that the life that has evolved on Earth possesses, at the cellular level, intrinsic mechanisms to endure the conditions of space."

Superman #1 Sells For More Than $9M

(Undated) -- A copy of "Superman" number one just sold at auction yesterday for more than nine-million-dollars. The money shelled out for the 1938 issue is thought to be the most ever paid for a comic book. The comic, considered one of the holy grails for collectors, was found in a box in a northern California attic by three brothers cleaning out their late mother's house. The comic was in fantastic condition, graded at nine out of ten.
