Colombian Theft Group Allegedly Targeted Asian Business Owners In Orange County
(Orlando, FL) -- Five people are in custody for an alleged theft ring that targeted Asian business owners. The Orange County Sheriff's Office announced the arrests yesterday. Deputies say the suspects are members of a Colombian South American Theft Group that was also wanted in Hillsborough and Osceola counties. For weeks, while disguised as landscapers, the suspects allegedly used sophisticated surveillance to track victims' routines. They didn't know, though, a sheriff's office drone was watching when they allegedly broke into a home Monday. All five are charged with burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief and are being held on ICE detainers.
HCSO Captain Fired For Cheating
(Tampa, FL) -- Another member of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is facing repercussions for an academic cheating scandal. Captain Zuly Stearns was fired yesterday after 25 years with the sheriff's office. At least four others have left the HCSO as part of the scandal. They allegedly paid a man to write papers for them while taking classes at the FBI National Academy.
Former Hamas Hostage Speaks In Broward County
(Weston, FL) -- A man held hostage by Hamas is sharing his story of courage and resolve. Omer Shem Tov [[tovv]] was in Broward County yesterday to speak at the Chabad of Weston. He talked about spending over 5-hundred days in captivity. Tov says he remembers being in darkness most of the time and the extreme starvation he had to endure. He credits his faith for keeping him alive even as he saw others die. Tov tells CBS News Miami he dreams of peace, and he hopes to see that dream coming true very quickly.
Supply Chain Issues Leaving Minnesota Cannabis Dispensaries Struggling to Fill Shelves
(St. Paul, MN)-- Minnesota cannabis dispensaries are running out of weed. Several businesses are approved to operate but don't have enough supply to sell. Minnesota legalized recreational marijuana over two years ago. However, there isn't enough cannabis growing to support everyone's businesses despite the demand. Minnesota also has tribal compacts with three tribes but there are tribal dispensaries on and off reservations that need supply.
