I appreciate that folks take what we do here seriously. We talk some very serious issues that are important. We also try to have some fun along the way. Not everybody gets it. Some of that can be attributed to new listeners who have not gotten to know me or our regular callers. That’s to be expected.
Another factor is that I speak fluent sarcasm. I believe those references are generally self-evident, but that’s not always the case. Sometimes my tone conveys seriousness when what’s intended is humor. Sometimes that’s great. At other times it’s, well, it’s a problem.
Sometimes, even with a warning that sarcasm lies ahead, the reaction is one of serious contention.
I’m not one for believing our format is about education. I am not here to teach anyone anything. I’m here for a discussion and I’m often enlightened by what callers bring to the table. Today may be an exception to the education rule. I believe we need a discussion about sarcasm. It will foster greater understanding of what we do and how we do it. And, we have audio examples to help us get there.
Getting into our usual fare we have mask mandates and vaccine recommendations coming back. A change of heart (and ownership) for Dominion voting machines is in play. A UNC-Asheville student, a Democrat, is touting the virtues of TPUSA. Fang-Fang 2 has happened and it’s cost an American diplomat his job. The 9th circuit has taken up the National Guard to Portland case and it’s looking good for the president. And, we have a story that lays out income tax changes for next year thanks to the Big Beautiful Bill.
Let’s get to it.
