Coastal Flood Advisory In Effect
(Melbourne, FL) --Flooding may continue to be an issue along the coast. The National Weather Service has a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until 8:00 p.m. for Volusia and Brevard counties. Minor coastal flooding is expected. The NWS warns some roads may be closed, critical infrastructure could be inundated and there could be shoreline erosion.
Florida Man Arrested For California Fire
(Melbourne, FL) --A Florida man is accused of starting the deadly Pacific Palisades Fire in California. Twenty-nine-year-old Jonathan Rinderknecht [[ RIN-der-neckt ]] was arrested in Melbourne on Tuesday. The January fire killed a dozen people, destroyed six-thousand structures, and scorched 23-hundred acres, making it one of the most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles history. Rinderknecht is facing arson and destruction of property charges.
Publix To Allow Open Carry
(Orlando, FL) --Florida's most popular grocery chain will allow customers to openly carry their guns inside. The "Orlando Sentinel" reports Publix made the change after the State of Florida started allowing open-carry. An appeals court recently overturned a ban on it, deeming it unconstitutional.
FL Couple Accused of Leaving Juvenile Alongside I-75
(Tampa, FL) --A man and woman from Florida are facing charges after police say they left a juvenile along the side of I-75 in Sarasota County. Police say that's because because the child didn't want to tag along on a spur-of-the-moment trip to Guam or Idaho. Investigators say the couple told the juvenile to "take care of the house" before they drove away, leaving him with some cash and a couple of guns. It's is unclear what the relationship is between the child and the couple.
Thermos Found Inside Polk County Inmate's Body
(Winter Haven, FL) -- Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd says deputies saved the life of a man who had a thermos cup stuck inside his body. Deputies first encountered 51-year-old Walter Frymire in a county park, where he had reportedly been naked. After trespassing on some nearby train tracks, Frymire was arrested and taken to jail. That's where a body scanner revealed the hidden item, which Grady joked was "put up the exit ramp."Frymire was taken to the hospital, and the thermos was removed. He's facing a slew of charges.
