Co-Defendant Pleads Guilty In Gambling Case Involving Former Osceola County Sheriff

(Tavares, FL) --There could be a crucial development in the criminal case against former Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez. One of his co-defendants in an illegal gambling ring that spanned four counties pled guilty Monday. Another is expected to plead guilty next week. Lopez is charged with racketeering and conspiracy. His trial is due to start next month in Lake County, but his lawyer said yesterday she filed a motion to change the venue to Osceola County. A hearing on the motion will take place next week.

Community Rallies Behind Suspended Duval County Teacher

(Jacksonville, FL) --Some parents are rallying behind a suspended teacher in Duval County. Douglas Anderson School of the Arts teacher Hope McMath was removed from the classroom over some Facebook posts last month. The art history teacher called City Councilman Rory Diamond the grand wizard, and she suggested Charlie Kirk's death was karma. McMath's supporters gathered yesterday outside the school committee meeting to demand she be reinstated. They tell First Coast News her suspension violates her free speech rights.

HOA Upset With Child Swinging On Tree

(Orlando, FL) --A child playing on a tree in Orange County is at the center of a dispute between a woman and her HOA. Ariel Barner recently got a letter from the University Pines Property Owners Association in Riverchase. According to the letter, her five-year-old son was a public nuisance for swinging on a tree and throwing rocks at the school bus stop. The HOA wants Barner to pay over 300-dollars to cover the cost of the lawyer drafting the letter she got. Barner is considering a lawsuit, and she started a GoFundMe account to raise money for her legal fees. Over two-thousand people have donated over 60-thousand dollars. Barner says she's a single mother fighting for fairness and her child's dignity.
