Fool Around & Find Out

We’ve talked recently about “consequence culture.” It’s happening all around us. It’s not new; it’s gone on forever, but we seem to want selective consequences these days. We see it playing out all the time and in several of our discussion points today.

Cracker Barrel’s firing its consulting firm that made one of the biggest blunders since Bud Light’s Dylan Mulvaney moment. Media itself is feeling the pressure after decades of bad decisions. The city of Portland is seeing what real enforcement looks like after police there were not doing the job. And Palm Bay councilman Chandler Langevin is reaping the reward of his ill-chosen words and failure to learn from them. After all, if you’re on the left foot and the rest of the band is on the right, it ain’t the band that’s out of step.

Sadly, it appears it’s not just political consequences that befall the rookie politician. He appears to be experiencing personal ramifications as well. That’s too bad for his family, but not unexpected in today’s society. Sure, say what you like, but remember words have impact and not just to you, especially when you’re a politician.
