Volusia County Students Scammed Out Of Overseas Trip

(DeLand, FL) -- Dozens of Volusia County students appear to be the victims of a scam. The sheriff's office announced Tuesday it has issued an arrest warrant for a man who owned a travel agency in Massachusetts. Over 100 Seabreeze High School students and chaperones paid over 35-hundred dollars each to Stone and Compass Travel for a nine-day class trip to Europe. A month before the trip, though, owner Robert Godwin emailed the students that it was going out of business and would not refund their money. He's charged with grand theft and organized scheme to defraud. One student tells News 6 it's sad to be stripped of something she was looking forward to for a year.

Powell County Paramedics Maintain Licenses After Antivenom Case Dismissed

(Powell County, KY)-- The Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services is dismissing a case involving two paramedics who administered antivenom to save a person's life. A highly venomous snake bit Kentucky Reptile Zoo director James Harrison while on the job in May and required immediate action. County Judge-Executive Eddie Barnes, who is a licensed paramedic, and other EMS workers responded to the call and administered antivenom while waiting for transportation services. However, a state policy changed two years ago, and now only allows wilderness paramedics to administer antivenom. The board ruled Tuesday that paramedics' actions were a violation but dismissed the case due to "unique circumstances."
