Woman Accused Of Hitting Elderly Lady After Asking Cop

(Miami, FL) --A Miami woman is accused of hitting a 72-year-old woman in front of police officers. MPD says the suspect, Mariana Navarrete, asked officers, quote, "How much would the bond be if I smacked her?" The incident happened Saturday evening when the suspect showed up to "retrieve stolen shoes." She was arrested on charges of aggravated battery on a elderly person. Although her bond was set at one-thousand dollars, Navarrete remained in jail due to previous charges against her.

State Backs Universal Orlando's Claims About Stardust Racers Ride

(Orlando, FL) --The state is backing Universal Orlando's claims about the Stardust Racers ride. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services released a statement yesterday about the ride. Kevin Zavala [[zuh-VAH-luh]] died last week after going on the roller coaster at Epic Universe. The medical examiner ruled his death was an accident caused by blunt impact injuries. Universal Orlando found the ride and its equipment worked as it was supposed to, and state inspectors agree. The state says the investigation will continue, though. Meanwhile, civil rights attorney Ben Crump announced yesterday he's now representing Zavala's family.
