(Plant City, FL)-- Governor Ron DeSantis wants people to be allowed to openly carry their guns in Florida. He made the comments during an event in Plant City on Monday. The event marked the start of the state's new sales tax holiday on guns, ammunition, and outdoor gear. Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins is also in favor of Florida being an open-carry state.
24 Arrested in South Florida Drug Trafficking Bust
(Broward County, FL)-- State officials say 24 people have been charged after a 14-month investigation into a drug ring spanning Broward and Palm Beach counties. Operation Trackside uncovered trafficking of fentanyl, cocaine, and oxycodone, with detectives seizing more than 11 pounds of drugs, 452 thousand dollars in cash, firearms, vehicles, and a boat. Seventeen suspects face conspiracy charges tied to cocaine, while others are accused of fentanyl and oxycodone trafficking. Five people remain at large as the state's Attorney General's Office pursues prosecution.

Woman Facing Charges For Having Her Dog Vote
(Costa Mesa, CA)-- An Orange County woman is facing felony charges after allegedly registering her dog to vote and having the animal cast a ballot in a California election. The "Los Angeles Times" says the woman in Costa Mesa registered her dog Maya to vote in California during the pandemic, and voted for the dog through the mail during the 2021 recall election of Governor Newsom. While that ballot was accepted, she was caught the next year trying to vote in the 2022 federal election and now faces felony charges that could lead to six years in prison. The woman had posted on social media about the dog voting in 2021, with pictures of Maya and the ballot, along with an "I Voted" sticker. Then after the dog passed away, she posted again, saying Maya was still receiving a ballot.
