Media and Messages

We’re all in the communications business. If not, we don’t accomplish whatever it is we are doing in life. Thus, controlling communications is important.

CBS had supposedly learned some lessons about its messaging after settling as lawsuit with President Trump over deceptive editing during the last presidential campaign. Apparently, they had not as the Eye network is now revamping editorial policy after their edit of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem in a recent interview.

Then there are newsworthy events, like major sports championships. Self-important as they are, sports entities are OCD about their image control. Like political campaigns, they want the coverage, but only in the way they want it. The US Open tennis tournament gives us this week’s example.

Here in the Sunshine State, Miami Beach is challenging the state’s ban on street art and we are getting some clarification on the proposed ban on mandatory vaccines for all Floridians.

On the political front I am tired of most political messaging. Most are predictable and self-serving. Then, along comes Vide President J. D. Vance with a refreshing take on his job and his political future.

Then there’s the state of Colorado where its sanctuary laws endanger every person in the state, especially those in law enforcement.

Welcome to our talk week on BML.
