Polk County Commission Approves Safety Ordinances In Response To Lakeside Brawl

(Bartow, FL) -- A brawl in Polk County is leading to safety changes. The county commission adopted two ordinances yesterday that were filed in response to a fight last month in Winter Haven at Lake Winterset. Eight people were arrested, and two were knocked unconscious. One ordinance establishes safe swim areas and the other regulates loud music and noise from boats. Both ordinances will take effect a week from Friday.

Flagler County Boy Grazed By Deputy's Bullet

(Bunnell, FL) -- The Flagler County Sheriff's Office is investigating two of its deputies. The sheriff's office is looking into a recent shooting in Bunnell near Mahogany Boulevard and Hazelnut Street. It appears a deputy and his daughter, also a deputy, were trying out her new department-issued rifle when a bullet entered the home of 11-year-old Jayce Buckner. He was in his bedroom playing video games when the bullet grazed him. Jayce suffered a second-degree burn on his arm. One of the deputies told investigators the bullet probably ricocheted off a berm they were shooting at. There's no word on who fired the bullet that wound up in Jayce's bedroom. Jayce's father tells Channel 9 this never should have happened, and the deputies should have gone to a shooting range instead.
