Protests Continue Over Removal Of Pulse Crosswalk

(Orlando, FL) --Orlando's mayor is being asked to show where he stands when it comes to the removal of street art. Protests were held again yesterday by those who oppose the state's decision to remove a crosswalk dedicated to the victims of the Pulse shooting. They have been using chalk to draw their own rainbows and messages of support for the LGBTQ community. Organizer Chris Blem says the protesters will rally at city hall today. He tells the Orlando Sentinel he wants Mayor Buddy Dyer and other politicians to join them and get their hands dirty.

Protest Held In St. Pete Over Crosswalks

(St. Petersburg, FL) -- Those who support street art in St. Petersburg want to spread a message of joy. That's what one woman said yesterday at a protest against the state's removal of all pavement art. While they're upset about losing the artwork, organizers wanted yesterday to feel more like a celebration. Tamara Leigh says joy is the one thing the state can't erase, pave over or take away. She and others drew rainbow symbols and pro-LGBTQ messages on the sidewalk on Central Ave. While the rain will wash those chalk messages away, one man tells the Tampa Bay Times they'll just keep making more.

Miami Police Officer Arrested

(Miami, FL) --A Miami Police officer finds herself on the wrong side of the law. Stephany Canizares was arrested Friday for aggravated assault with a firearm. The MPD says she was arguing with her boyfriend outside their home in Cutler Bay when she fired her gun. No one was hurt. Canizares is now suspended with pay pending an investigation.
