Orange County Commissioners Who Rejected ICE Agreement Await Punishment From Governor
(Orlando, FL) --A couple Orange County commissioners wonder if their most recent votes will be their last. The county commission voted 5-2 Tuesday to work with ICE to transport immigrant detainees to federal facilities. Commissioners Nicole Wilson and Kelly Martinez Semrad were the only 'no' votes. Governor Ron DeSantis has indicated before that he would suspend those who voted against working with ICE. DeSantis has not commented since Tuesday's vote. Semrad said yesterday she talked to County Attorney Jeff Newton before the meeting, and he told her he didn't know what would happen. Newton tells the Orlando Sentinel he thinks Wilson and Semrad will be OK, but given the political climate, he can't be sure.
Congressman Mills Accused Of Threatening To Release Nudes Of Ex-Girlfriend
(Washington, DC) --Congressman Cory Mills is accused of threatening to release nude videos of his ex-girlfriend. Lindsey Langston filed an incident report last month with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. She claims the Volusia County Republican also threatened to hurt anyone she dated. The sheriff's office says it turned over all evidence to the FDLE. Mills says the complaint is politically motivated, and he blames Langston's lawyer, Anthony Sabatini. Mills says Sabatini is weaponizing the legal system to launch a political attack against Mills because Mills beat him in a prior election. He also tells Eyewitness News this is a narrative built on lies and flawed legal arguments just to score political headlines.
Pasco County Housing Authority Inspector Arrested
(New Port Richey, FL) -- A man who works for Pasco County is accused of coercing a woman into having sex with him so she could pass her home inspection. Pasco County Housing Authority Inspector Joseph Gioielli was arrested Tuesday for an incident that allegedly took place four months ago in New Port Richey. A woman who gets rental assistance from HUD claims Gioielli wouldn't let her pass inspection because of her smoke detectors. She says he returned to the apartment on US 19 later and began kissing and hugging her. New Port Richey Police say the woman told officers she was afraid to resist him. Later, as he was leaving, he allegedly told her he would let her pass the inspection. Gioielli is charged with official misconduct by a public servant, and he could get up to five years in prison. Police ask any more victims to come forward.
More Incidents Involving Thrown Sex Toys At WNBA Games
(Los Angeles, CA) -- The WNBA is dealing with more incidents involving sex toys being thrown at games. The latest incident of one of the objects making it onto the court happened Tuesday during the game between the Indiana Fever and Sparks in Los Angeles. The object landed near the feet of Fever star Sophie Cunningham, who had previously asked fans in a social media post to stop throwing them because it would end up hurting a player. A sex toy was also thrown during last night's game between the Connecticut Sun and Phoenix Mercury, but it did not reach the court. The first incident happened July 29th in Atlanta followed by another in Chicago on Friday.
