Man Hurt By Possible Explosive Device In Pinellas Co.
(Pinellas Co., FL) -- An investigation is underway at the Pinellas County Solid Waste site after a man was hurt in an explosion. It happened yesterday morning at a disposal complex near St. Petersburg. Authorities say the man suffered minor injuries after picking up an ammo can and opening it. Bomb dogs from Pinellas and Hillsborough County responded and cleared the area. The man is expected to be okay.
Vero Beach Vice Mayor Under Investigation
(Vero Beach, FL) --Vero Beach's vice mayor is under investigation for hosting an LGBTQ+ event that exposed kids to adult performances. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier launched an investigation into the "all-ages" Pride Tea Dance. It was held at Vice Mayor Linda Moore's business called the Kilted Mermaid. She's due to appear in a Tampa courtroom on August 8th.

(Miami, FL) --Florida's new chief financial officer is cracking down on government spending. Blaise Ingoglia is starting with Broward County. He plans to target agencies, local governments, and universities that have refused to work with Florida's Department of Government Efficiency. Broward will be audited starting next week. The department will head to Gainesville next.
Company Shows How Drones Can Help Keep Schools Safe
(Miami, FL) --A company thinks it has a new way to keep kids safe in school. Campus Guardian Angel recently held a demonstration in Miami-Dade County to show how its drone technology works when there's an active shooter. Founder and CEO Justin Marston says when a silent alarm goes off, a drone stored on campus can respond in five seconds and take out the shooter in 60 seconds with powder pellets. John Lux is the principal at AcadeMir [[ uh-CAD-uh-meer ]] Preparatory School where the demonstration took place. He tells CBS News Miami this is another step in the right direction to ensure the safety of our kids.
Giant Teddy Bear Helps Police Catch Assault Suspect
(Pasco, WA) --A giant teddy bear helped police in Pasco, Washington capture an assault suspect. An SUV with a large plush bear strapped to the roof was at a park when the driver allegedly tried to assault a man with a machete. He escaped but was hit by the driver's SUV breaking his leg. The driver fled, but didn't remove the teddy bear. The next day, cops spotted it and arrested the suspect.
