Rain Causes Flooding In Brevard County

(Mims, FL) --Heavy rain is responsible for leaving a mess in Brevard County. Flooding was reported in Mims yesterday. An apartment complex on US One and Irwin Ave was affected. A property manager estimates at least 18 inches of water entered some units. The Red Cross was called to assist residents. One man tells News 6 this was just a typical rainy day, and there are concerns about what could happen in a hurricane.

Edgewater Using New Equipment To Address Flooding

(Edgewater, FL)-- A new addition is helping one city address flood concerns in Volusia County. Edgewater residents near Queen Palm Drive saw the water rising during yesterday's rainstorm. The city, though, deployed a new vacuum truck to suck up the water and make sure the neighborhood didn't flood. Residents are grateful. Mayor Diezel [[DEE-zil]] Depew gives credit to Interim City Manager Joe Mahoney, who bought the truck shortly after getting hired. Depew tells Spectrum News 13 the vac truck will be a permanent part of the city's fleet.

Man Arrested For Robbing Two Gas Stations In Volusia County

(DeLand, FL) -- A man is facing charges after allegedly trying to rob two businesses in Volusia County. Dylan Hope was arrested yesterday morning after he allegedly tried to rob two gas stations in Deltona. The sheriff's office says he first entered a Circle K on Howland Boulevard, demanded money and threatened to shoot the clerk. The clerk did not comply, so Hope left. Deputies say Hope then went across the street and tried to rob a Circle K on Elkcam Boulevard. He allegedly tried to kidnap a clerk, but the clerk escaped. Deputies found Hope inside the store and convinced him to surrender. He's facing charges that include armed robbery, armed kidnapping and written threats to kill.
