Lightning Hits Sanford Fireworks; Display Canceled

(Sanford, FL)Ā --Sanford police say a lightning strike spoiled a fireworks display in Sanford.Ā Authorities say the lightning hit a tree, then moved underground and fried a circuit board for the fireworks.Ā The Fourth of July Star Spangled Sanford event went on as scheduled but without the fireworks.Ā No injuries were reported.

Cocoa Beach Displays 1st Drone Light Show; Celebrates CentennialĀ 

(Cocoa Beach, FL)Ā --Ā Cocoa Beach displayed its first-ever Drone Light Show for the Fourth of July event. City officials say it's also the city's Centennial Celebration.Ā Thousands of people packed the streets near city hall to watch hundreds of drones display a unique thirty-minute show.Ā Centennial festivities conclude next weekend with the Cocoa Beach Air Show.

Deputies Kill Man In Volusia County

(DeLand, FL)Ā --A man is dead after he was shot by deputies in Volusia County.Ā The sheriff's office says the man had a knife, and he charged at deputies Saturday night in Daytona Beach.Ā He was shot multiple times and died at the scene.Ā Before the shooting, the man allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old boy and a 39-year-old man.Ā They're in stable condition.Ā The deputies involved in the shooting are on administrative leave, and the FDLE is investigating the shooting.

Man Bitten By Shark In Volusia County

(New Smyrna Beach, FL)Ā --Ā An Orange County man is recovering from a shark bite in Volusia County.Ā The Winter Park resident was surfing when he was bitten yesterday afternoon in New Smyrna Beach.Ā Volusia County Beach Safety says he was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.Ā 

Key West To Discuss ICE Agreement

(Key West, FL)Ā --Key West officials may be changing their minds about working with ICE.Ā The city commission is expected to meet tomorrow to discuss cooperating with federal immigration officials.Ā The police chief signed a 287g agreement four months ago to help enforce immigration laws. The commission, though, decided last week to void the agreement.Ā City Commissioner Sam Kaufman said yesterday the police chief did not have the authority to enter into that agreement.Ā The city and the state could be headed for a showdown, though.Ā Florida House Speaker Daniel Perez tells Local 10 News this was not meant to be an optional agreement.
