Co-Defendant Of Osceola Co. Sheriff Arrested

(Osceola Co., FL) -- Another co-defendant of former Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez is under arrest. Shelton Wetherholt was booked into the Lake County Jail, alongside Lopez. The suspended sheriff is charged with felony racketeering and conspiracy. Wetherholt is facing the same charges. Investigators claim Lopez helped shield an illegal gambling enterprise and received campaign contributions from it. Three other co-defendants have also been named in the case.

DeSantis To Lead Trade Mission To France

(Paris) -- Governor Ron DeSantis is leading an international trade and business development mission. The Governor will travel abroad June 16th through June 18th in France. He'll highlight the state's status as a global hub for aerospace, aviation, defense, and technology while promoting trade and investment opportunities. As part of the mission, DeSantis will attend the 55th International Paris Air Show, dubbed one of the world's premier events for aviation.

FIT, Patrick Space Force Base Announce Partnership

(Melbourne, FL)-- A new partnership will allow people at Patrick Space Force Base to further their education. Florida Tech announced yesterday it'll offer four master's degree programs to military and civilian personnel at the base. The programs are Acquisition and Contract Management, Space Systems, Space Systems Management and Business Administration.  FIT President John Nicklow [[nick-loe]] says helping those who serve our nation to realize their educational dreams is indeed a privilege, and they look forward to many years of meaningful collaboration.  

Street Racing Suspected In Brevard County Crash

(Cocoa, FL) -- A crash in Brevard County is believed to be the result of street racing. FHP says a speeding car crashed into another car Tuesday on I-95 near SR 520 in Cocoa. FHP says no one was hurt, but three people were seen running from the scene. Troopers say they're two men and a woman. They remain on the loose.     

 Manatee County Teacher Fired After Arrest

(Bradenton, FL)-- A Manatee County teacher is out of a job following her arrest. The school board voted unanimously on Tuesday to fire Carlos E. Haile Middle School ESE teacher Oliver Fell. The vote came a week after the 28-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly sending explicit photos to a 14-year-old male student. The investigation started in March when the boy came forward. The boy's mother went before the school board Tuesday to complain about how school officials handled the issue. She says the principal failed to report the matter to DCF as the law requires, and it took the district two months to place Fell on leave. Fell is facing two felonies, including lewd contact with a student by an authority figure.    

School Community Outraged Over Staff Member's ICE Costume

(Amityville, NY)-- Parents of students at an Amityville, New York school are outraged after a staff member dressed as an ICE agent for Hero Day. The incident happened at Northwest Elementary School yesterday. The Amityville Union Free School District said in a statement that they were aware of the situation and that it was "perceived" as offensive or inappropriate. The district added that the faculty member in question was reassigned to a non-school setting pending a review of the incident.
