Man Shot By Police In Osceola County

(Kissimmee, FL) -- A man is hurt after he was shot by police in Osceola County. Kissimmee Police Chief Charles Broadway says officers shot Matthew Wagner yesterday afternoon on West Vine Street. The KPD was called to the scene for a report of a man with a rifle. When officers arrived, they ordered Wagner to drop the gun, but he allegedly pointed it at them and was shot. The 20-year-old was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. Investigators determined the rifle was actually a BB gun. The FDLE and the state attorney's office will investigate. Broadway says the three officers involved are on administrative leave.

Former Marion County Deputy Indicted For Bank Robbery

(Ocala, FL) -- A former Marion County deputy is facing criminal charges. The Justice Department announced yesterday Ocala's Christina Gates Thagard was indicted for bank robbery. She was arrested Saturday for allegedly robbing a TD Bank in Ocala on Southeast 17th Street three weeks earlier. If convicted, the 40-year-old could get 20 years in federal prison. Thagard worked for the sheriff's office from 2003 to 2016.

Train Hits Truck In Brevard County

(Melbourne, FL)-- A truck driver is OK after a close call with a train in Brevard County. A cargo train hit a semi-truck that was stuck on railroad tracks Wednesday morning in Melbourne near Lake Washington Road. Melbourne Police say the truck driver was able to get out of the truck just seconds before the collision. No one was hurt in the incident. 

Dozens Of Illegal Immigrants Arrested In Tallahassee

(Tallahassee, FL)-- Dozens of people at a Tallahassee construction site are accused of being in the country illegally. Federal agents and FHP troopers arrested over one hundred people yesterday morning. The immigrants are from South and Central America. Homeland Security says some of them were previously deported and have criminal records. ICE says the arrests were part of an ongoing investigation, but they didn't give any details. The suspects were building new apartments near Florida State University. One of those detained told the Times/Herald they have permanent US residency.  

Pasco County Men Sentenced For Violent Kidnapping Of Rival Drug Dealer

(Tampa, FL) -- Two Pasco County men will spend decades behind bars for the violent kidnapping of a rival drug dealer. The US Justice Department announced yesterday Holiday's Mario Espino and Jacob Guest were sentenced to more than 20 years each. Each had pled guilty to drug trafficking, kidnapping and possessing a firearm in furtherance of their drug trafficking crimes. Two years ago, Espino, Guest and a third man lured the victim to Espina's home where they bound, beat and tortured him by pouring hot sauce on him. Pasco County deputies found the victim in an abandoned car in Holiday where he was tied up and had a pillowcase covering his head.   

Panthers, Oilers Set For Rematch

(Sunrise, FL) -- The Florida Panthers will be facing a familiar opponent in the Stanley Cup Finals. For the second year in a row, the Panthers will face the Edmonton Oilers. It's the first Finals rematch since 2009 when Detroit played Pittsburgh. Florida took last year's series after winning Game 7. This time Edmonton will have home-ice advantage.

Lakewood Police Say School Bus Driver Arrested After Standing Up in Aisle of Speeding Bus

(Lakewood, NJ) -- Police in New Jersey say a school bus driver faces almost four dozen charges in connection with an incident in which he allegedly stood in the aisle of a speeding bus, leaving the steering wheel unattended. Police say the bus driver, 41-year-old Xiao Lei Lei Tian [[ CHOW lay lay tee-en ]], is charged with talking on his cell phone as he stood in the aisle of the speeding bus and endangered his passengers. The bus was traveling from Rhode Island to a private school in Lakewood before it ran out of gas. Police found it on the side of the parkway and said nobody was hurt.
