Youth Pastor Accused Of Sexual Abuse
(St. Cloud, FL) --A youth pastor in Osceola County is accused of sexually abusing children. The sheriff's office announced yesterday Daniel Ryan Lamppin was arrested on two dozen counts of sexual battery. The alleged victims are two girls who were his foster children. One girl was six when the alleged abuse started. She's now 15. The other girl was 16, and she's now an adult. Sheriff Marcos Lopez says Lamppin is a youth pastor in Kissimmee at Connection Church on Generation Point. He's also a manager at a Chick-fil-A on South Orange Blossom Trail. Lopez is asking for any other victims to come forward.
Lightning Strike Starts House Fire In Seminole County
(Sanford, FL) -- Lightning is being blamed for a fire in Seminole County. A house caught fire last night in Sanford in Buckingham Estates. Firefighters say the home was struck by lightning. A couple and two dogs were inside at the time, but everyone got out OK. Firefighters, though, tell Fox 35 the home was destroyed.
Disturbance Reported At Jacksonville City Council Meeting
(Jacksonville, FL)-- Three people are facing charges after disrupting the Jacksonville City Council meeting. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says two women and a man disobeyed lawful orders to leave last night's meeting and became combative. The meeting had to be put on hold while the three were escorted out. Conor Cauley was found with a knife, but no one was hurt. The JSO says he'll be charged with a felony for resisting with violence and carrying a concealed weapon. The two women will get misdemeanors for resisting an officer without violence.
Florida Lifeguard Honored For Heroic Rescue
(Sarasota, FL)-- A Tampa Bay area lifeguard is earning statewide and national recognition for a heroic rescue. Mariano Martinez was off-duty at Lido Beach when he saved a family of seven caught in a dangerous rip current. Using only a rescue tube and bodyboards, he made multiple trips into the Gulf to bring them to safety. Martinez has since been awarded the U.S. Lifesaving Association's National Medal of Honor and named Florida's Lifeguard of the Year.
Bear Falls Through Family's Ceiling In Kentucky
(Bell County, KY)-- A family in Kentucky is cleaning up after a bear fell through their kitchen ceiling. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife says it was determined that the black bear had climbed up a ladder, got into an opening in the home's attic, and then crashed through the ceiling, landing on the kitchen stove. Arriving officers were able to get the bear out of the home by getting it to run through an open door. No injuries were reported.
Dead Dogs Found In Freezer At Michigan Restaurant Sparks Investigation
(Jackson, MI) -- Authorities are investigating after several dead dogs and severed animal parts were found in a freezer at a Michigan restaurant. The owner of the Parlour of Jackson says the remains were discovered Sunday in a garage tied to a previous operator, who had been using the space to store personal items. Animal control officers removed the evidence, and the Jackson County Animal Shelter has launched an investigation. The former operator has not responded to requests for comment. The new owner says he had been trying for weeks to get the items cleared from the property.
