Perspective. It’s essential to understand an issue. Varying perspectives help in that regard. There may be angles we have not considered for ourselves. It’s what I like about what we do. We’ll launch a story, get my perspective (or yours on a Wide Open Wednesday) and then share our thoughts as we all see things from a different place. It can lead to greater understanding, but we have to be willing to allow it.
When we see things only through a political lens, and that only from the viewpoint of our political bent, we limit our ability to understand an issue fully. It’s great to understand the politics (and very few do), but it’s important to step outside of them from time to time and see how things are in the real world.
Today a comedian will do that for us.
