NCF Official Arrested
(Sarasota, FL) -- A New College of Florida official is facing criminal charges. Marketing and Media Director Fred Piccolo was fired yesterday after his arrest Tuesday in Manatee County. He's charged with exposure of sexual organs. It dates back to an incident last month in Lakewood Ranch. The sheriff's office says he approached a woman in his car and asked for directions. Deputies say Piccolo was naked at the time and touching himself inappropriately. His lawyer tells Axios.com that Piccolo's Parkinson's medicine has caused side effects like compulsive behavior and hypersexuality.
Man Accused Of Traveling 100MPH In School Zone
(Collier Co., FL)-- A man is accused of driving 100 miles-per-hour through a school zone in Collier County. The incident happened Monday afternoon when school let out. Authorities say Stephen Hamlet nearly hit a school bus full of children while passing in a no-passing zone. He's also accused of driving through the grass to pass vehicles in the 20 mile-per-hour zone. Deputies searched the man's pickup truck and found marijuana and a glass pipe that tested positive for cocaine residue. He was booked into the county jail and released on bond.
Driver Indicted For Murder After Deadly Crash
(Viera, FL) -- A man is charged with murder for a crash that killed his three passengers in Brevard County. The Brevard-Seminole State Attorney's Office announced yesterday Sebastian's Vernon Hodges was indicted on 17 charges from last month's crash on I-95. Hodges was allegedly taunting a state trooper and speeding when he slammed into a tow truck in Cocoa. A man and two women in Hodges' car were killed. The tow truck driver was seriously injured. Hodges is facing charges that include first-degree murder, vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter and DUI with serious bodily injury.
Rays-Red Sox Game Interrupted By High-Pitched Noise
(Tampa, FL) -- Fans and players at Tuesday night's Rays-Red Sox game in Tampa got an earful of ear-splitting noise from the speaker system at Steinbrenner Field. It left fans putting their fingers in their ears and forced umpires to delay the game. The high-pitched whine began as the Rays went to the plate in the bottom of the 2nd inning and lasted for more than 40 seconds. The Red Sox beat the Rays 7-4 in the second game of a three-game series.
Amazon Is Testing Its Robotaxis This Summer in LA
(Los Angeles, CA)-- Amazon is testing its self-driving Zoox robotaxis in Los Angeles. The company's website says a small fleet of retrofitted cars will be sent out with safety drivers, to manually map the city before beginning autonomous driving later this summer. Los Angeles is the sixth city where Zoox is operating. Zoox is operating in Miami, Austin, Seattle, Las Vegas and San Francisco.
