Tornado Hits Seminole County

(Sanford, FL) --A tornado is responsible for some damage in Seminole County. An EF-Two tornado with winds up to 115 miles an hour touched down yesterday afternoon near Markham Woods Road. No one was hurt, but a house in Whispering Winds was destroyed. Sheriff Dennis Lemma says the fact no one was hurt is nothing short of a miracle. The couple that lives in the home was able to hide in a safe room. Emergency Management Director Alan Harris tells the Orlando Sentinel they would have died if they had not moved into that room. A home next door was damaged when a tree branch came through the roof.   

Florida Reaches Huge Settlement With Vape Company

(Tallahassee, FL) --Florida is announcing a huge settlement with e-cigarette giant, Juul, for targeting children. Attorney General James Uthmeier says Juul has agreed to a 79-million-dollar settlement with the Sunshine State. It's part of a larger, one-billion-dollar settlement that involves nearly every state in the nation. Uthmeier says the money will be used to open a "Vape Free Future" fund. He also says more fines will be levied against other companies targeting Florida youth with vaping products.

USF Under Investigation For Anti-Semitism

(Tampa, FL) --The University of South Florida could be in trouble for not protecting Jewish students on campus. The US Department of Education announced yesterday it's investigating USF, the University of Tampa and about 60 other schools for anti-Semitic harassment and discrimination. The DOE's Office of Civil Rights alleges the schools may have violated the Civil Rights Act by failing to protect Jewish students. The alleged violations include denying Jewish students uninterrupted access to campus facilities and educational opportunities. A USF spokeswoman tells News Service of Florida the school strides to provide an environment free from discrimination or harassment on any basis, including religious beliefs.   

Memphis Man Says He Was Shot By Dog

(Memphis, TN) --A Memphis man is claiming he was shot by his dog. Police say they were called to a home on early Monday morning to find the victim suffering from a graze wound. He told officer the weapon went off when his dog's paw got stuck in the trigger after it jumped up on his bed. The man was taken to the hospital to be treated for an injury to the thigh.

"Love Is Blind" Contestant Leaves Would-Be Groom At Altar

(Updated) -- A participant for the Netflix show "Love is Blind" is leaving her would-be husband hanging at the altar. Contestant Sara Carton told fellow contestant Ben Mezzenga she couldn't marry him due to a difference in politics. Carton later on the show said she was disappointed Menzzenga wasn't more engaged on issues including the Black Lives Matter movement and gay rights. The latest season's contestants were recruited from Minneapolis.
