While the Florida legislative session opened yesterday and the president addressed a joint session of congress last night, these are two governments on different trajectories.
President Trump came to the House chamber touting victory and vision for America. Governor DeSantis did the same in Tallahassee with a somewhat different tone and environment. Apparently both events had folks being ejected from the venue.
The president’s agenda has been implemented in fast and furious fashion while DeSantis’ has weathered a protracted battle with legislative leaders and could face a tough lawmaking session. Legislative priorities may differ from what DeSantis wants and we wonder if Floridians are an afterthought.
For the president, it seems Ukraine and its rude president have had a wake-up call and are ready for minerals deal with the US and some steps toward ending the war. Tariffs are flying back and forth between the US and several nations and the FBI has delivered “a truckload” of documents to Attorney General Pam Bondi.
More importantly, today is Wide Open Wednesday and you choose our direction of travel for the show. Let’s get to it.
