Former State Rep. Amesty Appears In Court

(Orlando, FL) --A former Central Florida lawmaker claims she's the victim of the weaponization of President Biden's Justice Department. Former District 45 State Rep. Carolina Amesty was in federal court in Orlando yesterday. She's charged with theft of government property. Federal prosecutors say she embezzled and stole fraudulently obtained COVID relief funds. Her lawyer says she's innocent and was only prosecuted by the Biden administration because she's a Republican. Attorney Brad Bondi has asked three Republican senators to intervene on Amesty's behalf. In the meantime, Amesty will stay out of jail, but the judge yesterday ordered her to surrender her passport. Afterward, she wrote on X the court proceeding represents a clear religious prosecution and a further personal political attack against her.

Florida Bill Tied To Proposed Presidential Library Clears First Hurdle

(Tallahassee, FL) --A bill tied to the development of presidential libraries is advancing in the Florida Legislature. The measure passed its first hurdle after it was approved by a state Senate committee. The legislation would block local governments from regulating the construction and management of such libraries. A similar bill has been filed in the House. Senator Jason Brodeur says there is a chance a library dedicated to President Donald Trump could be built in Florida, since Trump is a Palm Beach County resident. There are currently 13 presidential libraries with another one currently under construction in Chicago for former President Barack Obama.

Nurse Attacked By Patient In Palm Beach County

(Loxahatchee, FL) --A nurse was injured after she was attacked by a patient in Palm Beach County. It happened yesterday in Loxahatchee at HCA Florida West Palms Hospital. The sheriff's office says Stephen Scantlebury attacked the nurse and left the hospital. The nurse was flown to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach with what deputies call critical injuries. Scantlebury was found walking on Southern Boulevard where he was arrested for attempted murder. There's no word on what led to the attack.

Attempted Murder Suspect Melts Bed To Escape

(Memphis, TN) --A man wanted for attempted murder is now being held on a one-point-two-million-dollar bond after police say he set fire to a bed to escape. Thirty-four-year-old Amos Fleming was arrested yesterday in connection with a shooting at an Exxon gas station in Memphis back in May. He was handcuffed to a hospital bed while waiting to be cleared by medical staff, and used a lighter to melt the plastic handrail and get up. However the door was locked, preventing Fleming from leaving.
