Florida Swears In New Attorney General

(Tallahassee, FL) --Florida's new attorney general is officially on the job. James Uthmeier [[ UTH-my-er]] was sworn in Monday at the Florida Historic Capitol Museum in Tallahassee. He takes over from Ashley Moody, who was appointed to the U.S. Senate by Governor Ron DeSantis, following Marco Rubio's resignation to serve as Secretary of State. Uthmeier was DeSantis' chief of staff. State health care official Jason Weida is the governor's new chief of staff.

Deltona Mayor Criticized For Inauguration Trip

(Deltona, FL) -- A trip to President Trump's inauguration is a source of friction with some city officials in Volusia County. The Deltona City Commission discussed yesterday if it was OK for Mayor Santiago Avila, Jr. to go to the ceremony at taxpayers expense. He was claiming his visit complied with a travel policy the city manager enacted in November. The council, though, is going off a policy that dates back to 2007. A motion to declare Avila knowingly violated the city's travel policy fell one vote short. The vice mayor asked for a review of the city's travel policies.

Anti-Trump Protest Held In Tampa

(Tampa, FL) -- Resist and persist. That's the message some were spreading yesterday at an anti-Trump rally in Tampa. The Not My President protest took place at Tampa City Hall. Protesters are upset about Trump's budget cuts and Elon Musk's role in the Trump administration. They think he's going too far and has no accountability to make the changes he's making to the federal government. One protester tells Fox 13 News "if you want to fix the house, you don't tear up the foundation." Some Trump supporters were there, too. One man tells 10 Tampa Bay the government has needed to be more efficient for a long time, and when the government has less of your money, that's a good thing.

Thieves Use U-Haul To Steal Lego Sets

(University Place, WA)-- A store that sells Lego in University Place, Washington was hit by burglars who stole thousands of dollars' worth of collector sets. The suspects backed a U-Haul truck up to the front door of Sasquatch Bricks and in about five minutes loaded the high-valued, collectibles into the truck. Lego have been the target of thieves across the country, because retired sets are expensive. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office is reviewing video from a resident in the building. The owners are asking for Lego collectors to watch online to see if the sets are being sold.

George Washington Revolutionary War Letter For Sale

(Philadelphia, PA-- A rare letter valued at 150-thousand dollars written by George Washington is up for sale. A Raab Collection spokesperson said it was written during the Revolutionary War, where the General had fought for independence from Britain for two years. In the letter, Washington praised colonists at the heart of the American Revolution and the spirit of the colonists to take up their own arms to fight off the British oppressors. It's eight by 12 inches, hand written on both sides of one sheet and has a smudged fingerprint near Washington's signature.
