The amazing pace of this first month of President Trump’s second term has been impressive. The president is following through on promises made and we are seeing what most of us were hoping for, a return to sanity for America.
However, there is resistance- from the left, from the courts and from those who have reaped the benefits of bad policy or cheered them on. So far, the resistance doesn’t mean much and some of these issues may be decided in the Supreme Court.
There are indications that Democrats are waking to where they had been taken and not liking it. Could we be seeing a more moderate America?
Thanks to Florida’s Supreme Court term limits are officially meaningless in the state. I don’t believe it’s the court’s fault. It would appear the term limits decision released yesterday follows the law as written. That’s the problem with lawmaking by constitutional amendment. None the less, Debbie Mayfield is on the ballot for the senate seat she just vacated at the end of the last term. The politics around this one will be interesting.
Governor Ron DeSantis has signed the compromise immigration bill after weeks of he and legislative leadership harping at each other in the media. Now, they’d ask us to believe they are one happy team and worked diligently together to make this happen. Not so fast. Hastily crafted legislation is rarely quality legislation and this one seems to fit that bill.
It’s the same with hasty studies, especially when it came to COVID. If we have time, we’ll dive into that at the end of the show.
And on this Valentine’s Day I’ll share what I find to be the meme of the week. Don’t worry if you don’t have a valentine on Valentine’s Day. You didn’t have a groundhog on Groundhog’s Day, either.
