Brevard County Girl Is Missing
(Satellite Beach, FL) Satellite Beach issued a Missing Child Alert on Friday for 13-year-old Avery Monroe Rice. She was last seen on Wednesday at the Atlantic Plaza on Highway A-One-A. Avery is described as white, 4-foot-10, 90 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and braces on her teeth. Police say she was last seen wearing a black shirt, black shorts and white-and-black shoes. Investigators don't believe foul play is involved, and she's probably staying with friends.
Federal Grant To Build EV Charging Stations In Limbo
(Jacksonville, FL) -- A federal judge's order may help give Jacksonville the green light to use a federal grant to build more electric vehicle charging stations. President Trump issued an executive order earlier this week to freeze federal funding. On Friday, a federal judge in Rhode Island issued a temporary restraining order, saying Trump overstepped his authority by issuing the freeze in the first place. During the final days of President Biden's administration, Jacksonville was awarded a two-point-eight-million-dollar grant to build 100 electric vehicle charging stations. The charging stations would be located at six Florida State College at Jacksonville campuses and four city of Jacksonville locations.
Seminole County Residents Detained In Apparent ICE Raid
(Sanford, FL) -- About a dozen people are in custody after an apparent immigration raid in Seminole County. Sanford Police say federal agents went to the Roselea Manor Apartments on Wednesday on Ridgewood Ave. Fox 35 reports up to 12 people were detained, and video shows officers wearing vests that indicated they work with Homeland Security or ICE. Residents tell Fox 35 there are a lot of undocumented immigrants in the complex, and everybody is scared.
Local Venezuelans Facing Deportation
(Miami, FL) -- A decision by President Trump will have repercussions for Venezuelans in South Florida. Trump has ended Temporary Protected Status for 300-thousand Venezuelans living in the US. They have 60 days to leave the US or they could be deported. Many of those affected live in the Miami area. Jose Colina is president of a local group of Venezuelan exiles. He says this is a life or death situation, and it needs to be stopped. He tells 7News we're not numbers, we're human beings, and a lot of people are in danger right now.
Alleged Bank Robber Ubered To Scene Of Crime
(Nashville, TN) --Police in Nashville say an alleged bank robber Ubered to the scene of the crime. Alamin Shakur is accused of holding up the U.S. Community Credit Union. He gave a teller a note claiming there was a bomb in the bank before fleeing, also in an Uber. Shakur was arrested after cops used his account to track him down.
