It doesn’t stop coming. The wave of activity by the Trump administration is unrelenting and it’s a wave of change. Positive change.
The White House Briefing Room is different. It’s better. There are seats for the new media. There is no obfuscation, stuttering or deflecting. The message is direct, honest and unafraid. They are now up front with the American people, something we said the adults in the room could handle if we were only given the chance.
In Tallahassee, change is harder to come by. Term limits and leadership funds have, oddly enough, drained leadership and statesmanship from the body. There are three power players in state government: the governor, the speaker of the house and the senate president. That’s it. It’s their way or the highway and when they are in conflict, as they are right now, it’s an ugly mess.
That mess spilled over to the media in every form as the governor went on a media tour that included Glenn Beck’s show yesterday. Glenn was all-in with the governor, but did not have all the facts. It prompted me to reach out to Glenn (I have no idea if my email got to his eyes) giving more details than he had or was getting from the governor’s staff.
In the end, the legislature passed a new immigration bill, but with significant differences from what DeSantis had proposed. We’ll talk to our legislators when they get freed up from the week’s activities.
