Long Lines At South Florida Immigration Office Following Raids
(Miramar, FL) -- South Floridians are already noticing a crackdown on illegal immigration only a week after President Donald Trump officially took office. The Homeland Security Investigation's Miami Field Office posted on X, saying federal agencies conducted several immigration enforcement operations Sunday. ICE officials detained some undocumented migrants on a variety of charges in Broward and Martin counties. There were long lines outside the immigration office in Miramar Monday morning as people checked on the status of their loved ones or checked up on their own documentation. People taken into custody during the weekend operation are expected to face deportation.
Immigrants "In Full Panic Mode"
(Longwood, FL)-- Immigrants in Central Florida are in "full panic mode. "That's what attorney Tamara Rivera said recently in Seminole County. She works at The Immigration Advocates in Longwood. Rivera says people, churches and nonprofits have reached out to her since President Trump took office. She says parents are concerned that children will be picked up at school by ICE agents. Rivera says parents are also worried about going to work. She tells News 6 they're truly in fear for their lives.
Brevard County Principal Suspended After House Party
(Cocoa Beach, FL)-- A Brevard County school is dealing with what the superintendent calls a complete failure in leadership. Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell spoke after the principal and a teacher at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School were arrested Friday. Cocoa Beach Police arrested Principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan and third-grade teacher Karly Anderson at Hill-Brodigan's house. Hill-Brodigan allegedly threw a party that included underage drinking and marijuana use.Police say there were over a hundred kids at the house plus Anderson. Both are facing charges that include child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Dr. Rendell placed Hill-Brodigan and Anderson on administrative leave and appointed an acting principal at Roosevelt.
Orlando Man Arrested For Volusia County Shooting
(DeLand, FL) -- A shooting in Volusia County could be a case of road rage. DeLand Police announced yesterday a man was shot at Saturday while driving at North Woodland Boulevard and New York Ave. No one was hurt, but at least two shots fired from the other car hit the victim's car. Orlando's Daniel Duarte was arrested. He's facing charges that include aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony. The DPD believes the victim had honked at Duarte for driving too slowly before the shooting. Duarte is out on bond and due back in court next month.
Controlled Burn Gets Out Of Control In HillsCo
(Plant City, FL)-- There's property damage after a controlled burn got out of control in Hillsborough County. The fire started yesterday afternoon in Plant City off Mary Ivy Drive and spread rapidly.Before firefighters could get it under control, it damaged 12 cars, six boats, two travel trailers, a semi-trailer and two detached sheds. No one was hurt, though. No charges have been announced.

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Florida is the best place to retire in 2025. That's according to a new study by WalletHub. The Sunshine State was ranked number one for retirement nationwide due to its low taxes for retirees and the funding it receives for seniors from the Older Americans Act, which funds transportation and nutrition programs for older residents. Unfortunately, the overall cost of living is among one of the highest. Some of the other best states to retire include Minnesota, Colorado, and Wyoming, while Kentucky was named the worst.

1986, space shuttle Challenger exploded 72-seconds after liftoff from Cape Canaveral. All seven astronauts on board were killed. The blast was caused by a failure of the shuttle's rocket booster O-rings due to cold weather at launch time.
