A Culture of Intimidation

In my business a commercial, especially if by an on-air personality, must be clearly identified as a paid commercial announcement. You’ll hear me do it all the time. Not so in the world of politics where deception is king. Disguised as news program interviews, Kamala Harris’ campaign paid for favorable interviews from purported news programs. That’s a no-no here and it should be there. Think of them as media’s in-kind contributions to the campaign, but they weren’t contributions, they were paid for the performance.

Now, Morning Joe is taking heat for meeting with Hitler. Joe Scarbrough and Mika Brzezinski sat down with Donald Trump after his huge win. It was their first meeting in some seven years. The once and future president had been a pariah to them since his first term. I wonder why now. Not that you would not want the next president on your show, but is there more here?

We’ve talked about the FEMA failure in serving Trump supporters after this season’s hurricanes. Why did the workers follow the directive? The clue is in the title to today’s show page and it could also be a reason Dave thinks the DOGE will not have a chance to work.

Governor DeSantis is getting pressure to name Marco Rubio’s (Trans-Hillary?)  replacement in the Senate. I’m not reading the governor as one who would appreciate or respond favorably to such tactics. And besides, none of the pressure is to put himself in the job.

Dave Bowman joins us for the show and in our final hour will takes us to Gettysburg for Dave Does History.
