Haridopolos Wins Congressional Race

(Tallahassee, FL)-- Incumbents in Congress in Central Florida can celebrate victories. Republican incumbents Michael Waltz, Cory Mills and Daniel Webster won yesterday. Democratic incumbents Darren Soto and Maxwell Frost also won. In District 8, Republican incumbent Bill Posey is not running again. Republican Mike Haridopolos beat Democrat Sandy Kennedy to claim that seat.

Worrell Beats Bain

(Tallahassee, FL)-- A prosecutor removed from office by the governor is getting her job back. Monique Worrell beat Andrew Bain yesterday to win the state attorney's race for Orange and Osceola counties. Governor Ron DeSantis removed Worrell from office and appointed Bain to the position. Worrell says her victory is a powerful message from the people, and it underscores the resilience of our democracy.

Lopez Beats Warren In State Attorney Race

(Tallahassee, FL)-- One prosecutor removed from office by the governor won't be getting his job back. Suzy Lopez beat Andrew Warren yesterday in the Hillsborough County state attorney's race. Governor Ron DeSantis removed Warren from office two years and appointed Lopez to replace him. She got 52 percent support yesterday to remain in office. Lopez is the county's first female state attorney. She told supporters she was honored, and her win is a win for law enforcement.    

Sticky Stuff Gets Voters To Polls In Michigan

(Detroit, MI) -- In Michigan, the 2024 election got a little stickier than in most other states. The Michigan Department of State held a "I Voted" sticker-design contest awarding top honors to several winners. Some designs even went viral. Buyers were offering to pay more than 30 dollars for stickers that include an image of a werewolf pulling off his shirt in front of American flag and a dog with sunglasses bragging about voting. More than 480 designs were submitted and the public got to vote on their favorites drawn by school students and Michigan residents. The nine top designs were made available for clerks to order and give out to voters. 

Death Of Social Media Star Squirrel Sparks DEC Bomb Threats

(New Paltz, NY)-- Authorities say the death of social media sensation Peanut the squirrel sparked bomb threats at New York State Department of Environmental Conservation offices. Ten offices received the threats Monday, including in Tarrytown, New Paltz, Sherburne, Stonybrook and New York City. DEC workers were given the choice to work remotely, and after state police didn't find any explosives, they deemed the threats noncredible. Peanut was confiscated from a home in Chemung County last month and put down after he bit someone so he could be tested for rabies.
