Flooding In Volusia County

(Orange City, FL)-- Neighbors are trying to make do while dealing with flooding in Volusia County. Hurricane Milton caused flooding in Orange City in the Miller Road area. The water is so high, some are getting around by kayak. Another resident is relying on his neighbors to bring him groceries because he's stranded in his home. One woman tells Channel 9 they need help, but they're not getting much in the way of communication from the city or county.

Governor Announces Millions For SeaPort Manatee

(Tallahassee, FL)-- The Gulf Coast area is getting some help rebuilding from Hurricane Milton. Governor Ron DeSantis announced yesterday SeaPort Manatee has been awarded nine-and-a-half million dollars to jumpstart its recovery. The money will be used to help repair infrastructure damaged in the storm. DeSantis says initial damage assessments indicated the port sustained potential losses of over 200 million dollars. SeaPort Manatee is the primary deep-water seaport in Southwest Florida. DeSantis says getting the port back on its feet will benefit the people of Florida and ensure normal life is resumed as soon as possible.

"I, Robot" Director Weighs In On Tesla Designs

(Burbank, CA) -- When Tesla showed off its new designs for its latest robotic creations last week in California, some people accused Elon Musk's company of ripping off the designs from the 2004 Will Smith movie "I, Robot." The presentation itself was called "We, Robot," an homage to the title of the Issac Asimov short-story collection on which the film was based. Still, some were quick to call out the similarities of the Cybercab Robotaxi, Robovan and newest Tesla robot to things seen in the movie. Now the director of that movie, Alex Proyas, has weighed in, posting on X, "Hey Elon, can I have my designs back?"

Today in History

2009, Colorado authorities and military personnel were dispatched to track a helium-filled balloon, mistakenly believed to have lifted off with a six-year-old boy inside. When the balloon landed, authorities quickly discovered there was no one inside the flying-saucer-like balloon. The child was found hiding inside a cardboard box in the attic of his parents' house in Fort Collins.

1924, President Calvin Coolidge declared the Statue of Liberty a national monument.
