Hurricane Warning Issued
(Ruskin, FL) --Tampa Bay is under a Hurricane Warning. The National Weather Service issued the warning yesterday ahead of Hurricane Milton. The NWS describes the storm as a Category Four, and they warn it'll grow in size as it heads towards us as a disastrous hurricane. By the time Milton makes landfall, it'll weaken to a Category Three. Destructive damage is still expected. The storm surge could be life-threatening and catastrophic, and the high winds are expected to cause widespread and major damage.
Hurricane Warning Issued For Parts Of Central Florida
(Melbourne, FL) --Parts of Central Florida are under a Hurricane Warning. The National Weather Service issued the warning yesterday for Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Lake counties. A Hurricane Watch and Storm Surge Watch has been issued for Brevard and Volusia counties. The NWS calls Hurricane Milton a Category Four hurricane. It's expected to make landfall on the Gulf coast late tomorrow afternoon and cross the state Thursday as it heads toward the Atlantic. The outer rainbands will arrive tomorrow. Power outages are expected. Some areas could get a foot of rain, and tornadoes are possible, too. For those on the coast, there could be beach and dune erosion, and life-threatening storm surge is possible.
Volusia County Issues Curfew
(DeLand, FL) --A curfew will be in place in Volusia County ahead of Hurricane Milton. The county announced yesterday a curfew will be in effect from 8:00 p.m. tomorrow through 8:00 a.m. Thursday. Officials say the goal is to discourage unnecessary traffic during the height of the storm. Exceptions will be in place for law enforcement, those traveling for work and all emergency workers. Others could face a 500 dollar fine or up 60 days in jail. The county also issued an evacuation order for all areas east of the intracoastal waterway, all manufactured and mobile homes, all low-lying areas and other areas prone to flooding and all campsites and RV parks. The order goes into effect at 8:00 tomorrow morning.
NJ Has Most Haunted Road In America
(West Milford, NJ) -- If you're looking for something spooky to do this Halloween, you might want to drive on the most haunted road in America. The car rental company Sixt says it's a winding ten-mile stretch in West Milford, New Jersey. There are lots of tales of paranormal activity on Clinton Road including phantom headlights and a "Ghost Boy" who throws coins at drivers from Dead Man's Curve. Interstate Four in Florida is ranked second in the Haunted Road report with Bray Road in Wisconsin placing third.
