Helene Moves On, But Bad Weather Remains
(Melbourne, FL) --The worst of Hurricane Helene may be over, but bad weather remains in Central Florida. The National Weather Service is calling for showers and thunderstorms today, mainly before 4:00 p.m. Winds are expected to be between 15 and 20 miles an hour with gusts up to 30 miles an hour. Showers and thunderstorms are also expected tonight and tomorrow.
Heavy Erosion Reported In Brevard County
(Cape Canaveral, FL) -- Parts of Brevard County are feeling the impact of Hurricane Helene. The city of Cape Canaveral announced yesterday the beach has seen heavy erosion, which led to a drop off. The city reports significant wave action. If you plan on going to the beach today, be aware the sand below your feet could be unstable near the water's edge.
Helene Sets Storm Surge Record
(St. Petersburg, FL) -- Hurricane Helene is already a record breaker. The storm surge set records across Tampa Bay yesterday. Clearwater recorded more than six feet of storm surge. That's about two feet more than the old record set over 30-years-ago. St. Petersburg recorded almost four-and-a-half feet of storm surge. That's over half-a-foot more than the old record set almost 40-years-ago. Records were also set in Old Port Tampa, Port Manatee and East Bay.

That's where Hurricane Helene made landfall at 11:10 last night as a Category Four storm.
Broward County Teen Sues Over Historic Baseball
(Miami, FL) --A Broward County teen believes he's the rightful owner of a historic baseball. Eighteen-year-old Max Matus [[MATT-iss]] filed a lawsuit recently in Miami-Dade County over the baseball Shohei Ohtani hit at LoanDepot Park last week.It was the Dodgers star's 50th home run of the season, and it made him the first player in Major League Baseball history with 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a season. Matus claims he caught the ball, but a man ripped it away from him. That man has since put the ball up for bid with Goldin Auctions, but Matus sued the man and the company to stop the auction. A judge yesterday ruled the auction can take place today, but the ball cannot be transferred to a new owner until another hearing October 10th.Matus is suing for over 50-thousand dollars and claims he suffered irreparable harm.
Fake Social Media Accounts Lead To Indictment
(Houston, TX) -- A Texas politician has been indicted for his alleged use of fake social media accounts. Fort Bend County Judge K-P George is accused of using those Facebook personalities to make racist comments about himself. Investigators believe he was trying to drum up sympathy. The charges include his former chief of staff, who was arrested back in June for online misrepresentation. As part of that investigation, George was ordered to give his cell phone to the feds. So far, he has not stepped down from his role with the county.
