Grand Jury Report Recommends Orlando Police Use Mental Health Professionals On Calls
(Orlando, FL) -- The Orlando Police Department is being urged to do more to help the mentally ill. A grand jury report was released yesterday in response to a deadly police shooting last year. Officers shot and killed a woman who was armed, drunk, suicidal and allegedly threatened them. The report cleared the officers of wrongdoing. It also recommends hiring more mental health professionals and having officers bring one with them when responding to certain situations.
Man Arrested For Trying To Kidnap Woman In Orlando
(Orlando, FL) -- A witness is credited with stopping a woman from being kidnapped in Orlando. Police say Juan Perez threatened a woman with a knife Monday outside a Walmart at South Goldenrod Road and Market Place Drive.The 54-year-old allegedly stole a woman's purse and tried to force her into the trunk of her car, but a witness came to her aid. Police arrested Perez yesterday. He's charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon and attempted kidnapping. Police say Perez is already on federal probation for kidnapping in another case.
Porch Pirates Caught On Tape In Miami-Dade County
(Cutler Bay, FL)-- Residents of a gated community in Miami-Dade County should be aware of a recent incident. Surveillance videos show porch pirates striking at a home in Cutler Bay in the Cutler Cay community over the weekend. Homeowner Christina Furman says they took a thousand dollars worth of items from outside her home while she was on vacation. The men were caught on camera in the neighborhood the entire weekend, apparently canvassing the neighborhood. Furman tells 7News she wants police to patrol the streets.

(Undated) -- A Chinese study finds that teens who are severely addicted to short-form videos have poorer sleep quality and higher levels of social anxiety. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels have popularized the short-term format. The videos typically last between 15 seconds and two to three minutes and feature quick edits, music and are designed for sharing on mobile devices. Their findings are published in the journal BMC Psychology.
