Governor DeSantis Unveils Record-Breaking Tourism Numbers

(Tallahassee, FL) --Governor Ron DeSantis is announcing that Florida has broken another tourism record. He reports that during the second quarter of 2024, Florida welcomed 34-million visitors which is the highest second-quarter tourism statistic in Florida history. And it is a one-point-seven percent increase over the same period last year.

Seminole County Elections Supervisor Accused Of Violating Campaign Laws

(Sanford, FL) -- The man in charge of elections in Seminole County is accused of violating campaign laws. Elections Supervisor Chris Anderson allegedly solicited voters at an early voting location, interfered with an election and campaigned while on the job. A judge recently issued a temporary injunction against Anderson. She wrote that Anderson, as an incumbent seeking reelection, was intermingling his campaign with his official duties and confusing voters. As part of the injunction, he'll have to remove his name from all signs inside polling locations, stay away from polling sites and stay away from people who are voting unless he's acting in his official capacity. Channel 9 reports a hearing is set for this morning.

BSO Investigating More School Threats

(Fort Lauderdale, FL)-- Two students are facing charges for threatening shootings in Broward County, but more arrests could be coming. Sheriff Gregory Tony announced the arrests last week of two 13-year-olds, a boy and a girl. The boy allegedly threatened a shooting at the district's offices in Fort Lauderdale, and the girl allegedly directed her threat at Cooper City High School. Tony says there are two other threats his office is investigating. Tony warns these students will get a felony arrest on their record,.

Indiana Jones's Temple Of Doom Hat Sells For $630k

(Los Angeles, CA)-- The hat worn by Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom has sold for over 600-thousand dollars at auction. The brown felt fedora - specifically made for the 1984 film - sold for 630-thousand dollars in Los Angeles on Thursday. The auction house said the hat was also used during additional photography at producer George Lucas 's visual effect facilities, and was worn by Ford's stunt double, who died last year. The hat came from stunt double's personal collection.
