Missing Man Found Safe
(Orlando, FL) -- A family is relieved after a missing man was found safe. Patrick Bailey went missing over a week ago. The 83-year-old was supposed to board a plane from Orlando International Airport to Oregon, but the flight was canceled. Bailey accidentally left his phone at the hotel, so his family had no way of reaching him. Orlando Police said last night that Bailey was located safe in California. Bailey's daughter says her dad decided to board a bus to get home but wasn't able to reach anyone without his phone, and he didn't realize anyone was looking for him. She says he's healthy and in good spirits, and they're grateful for everyone who looked for him.
DeSantis On Fox News
(Tallahassee, FL)-- Governor Ron DeSantis says Florida is off the map for Vice President Kamala Harris. He was on Fox News yesterday to discuss November's presidential election. DeSantis says the state has almost a million more registered Republicans than Democrats, and if Harris spends her campaign money here it would be like lighting it on fire. The most recent poll on the race was released almost two weeks ago. The Fox 13 Tampa/Insider Advantage poll shows Donald Trump leading Harris by ten percentage points.
Pensacola Bishop Reacts To Olympics Opening Ceremony Controversy
(Pensacola, FL)-- A religious leader in the Panhandle thinks the parody of The Last Supper in the Opening Ceremony at the Olympics was tragic. William Wack is the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese in Pensacola-Tallahassee. He and other Catholics are upset that drag queens and a transgender model were used to recreate the Leonardo da Vinci painting in Friday's ceremony. Wack says the Olympics are supposed to be a beacon of unity, and its tragic the organization chose to parody something as sacred to all Christians as Jesus' Last Supper. He also tells WEAR News such a decision does absolutely nothing but inflame tensions for no benefit whatsoever.
One Dead, Officer Hurt In St. Lucie County
(Fort Pierce, FL)-- A man is dead and a police officer is hurt after a shooting in St. Lucie County. Fort Pierce Police say a burglary suspect was killed and a police officer was hurt yesterday morning in Hutchinson Island on Bayshore Drive. Police say the man pointed a gun at officers and was shot. He was taken to the hospital where he passed away. The officer was also shot and is in stable condition and expected to survive. The FDLE is investigating, and three officers involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave.
School Named After Senator Menendez Changes Name
(West New York, NJ)-- An elementary school named in honor of New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez is getting a name change. The Robert Menendez Elementary School in West New York will be reverting back to its original name, West New York PS #3. The school was named in honor of Menendez back in 2013. The name change comes after the senator was found guilty of federal bribery charges.
