South Florida Police Prepare For Trump Appearance Tomorrow

(Palm Beach, FL)-- South Florida police are making sure people feel safe ahead of former President Donald Trump's visit today. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw held a news conference to discuss preparations, saying his agency is in constant contact with the Secret Service. The sheriff says he is bringing two correctional buses for anyone who gets in the road while Trump is being escorted to his Mar-a-Lago estate. Drivers can expect temporary road closures throughout the day. Trump is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a day after Netanyahu sat down with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Four Hit By Lightning In St. Petersburg

(St. Petersburg, FL)-- Four people are hurt after getting hit by lightning in St. Petersburg. Fire officials say the four were standing under a tree that was hit by lightning last night in the area of 3rd Ave Northeast and Beach Drive Northeast. At least two of the victims are children. Three victims are in stable condition. There's no word on the fourth victim, but firefighters say a woman in her 20s went into cardiac arrest and was revived with life-saving measures.

Snorkeler Has Arm Severed In Boating Incident In Keys

(Key West, FL)-- Doctors are credited with saving a man's arm after a boating accident in the Keys. The FWC says Sean Bender was snorkeling Wednesday near the Boca Chica Bridge in the Lower Keys when he was hit by a boat propeller. His arm was severed, and his neck and head were cut. He was taken to the hospital where doctors were able to reattach his arm. 7News reports the 20-year-old is still in critical condition.

Abortion-Rights Supporters Ask Florida Supreme Court To Invalidate Financial Impact Statement For Amendment Four

(Tallahassee, FL)-- An abortion rights group is asking the Florida Supreme Court to side with them in a dispute over Amendment Four. The amendment on November's ballot would legalize abortion until the fetus reaches viability. The Financial Impact Estimating Conference released its analysis almost two weeks ago of the amendment's financial impact. The committee found it couldn't accurately determine the financial impact because of all the lawsuits that would likely be filed if it were to pass. A group called Floridians Protecting Freedom, though, filed a request on Wednesday with the Florida Supreme Court to strike down the impact statement. They claim politicians unfairly influenced the committee. There's no word on when the court will issue a ruling.

San Diego Zoo Asking Visitors To Not Show Gorillas Videos On Phones

(San Diego, CA)-- The San Diego Zoo is asking visitors to not show gorillas videos on cell phones. It's apparently become a problem at zoos across the country, including the world famous San Diego locations. The Wall Street Journal says people are getting gorillas addicted to watching videos on phones and iPads through the glass enclosures. Gorillas and humans share 98-percent of their DNA, and just like humans, they can have too much screen time, altering their behavior. The Zoo says they do not condone and strongly discourage playing the gorillas the videos.
