Rubio Calls For End To Federal Funding Of Chinese Military Experiments
(Washington, DC) --Marco Rubio says he has evidence that U.S. taxpayers have been unwittingly funding thousands of Chinese experiments with direct applications to the Chinese military. Senator Rubio wrote Sunday on NationalInterest.org that new unclassified analysis provided to him by NCIS reveals this has been going on for decades. He counts over five-thousand instances of research collaboration between the Defense Department's funding agencies and Chinese entities in the last five years alone. Rubio is worried this research may have already given Beijing an edge in key areas of 21st century warfare. He adds he's working on new legislation to safeguard taxpayer-funded research and close loopholes that have enabled our adversaries to exploit it.
Scott Calls On EPA To Rescind EV Mandates
(Washington, DC) --Rick Scott and other Republicans are calling on the EPA to rescind its EV mandates. Senator Scott announced yesterday he and over 150 colleagues sent a letter to the EPA. The letter asks the agency to overturn its de facto electric mandate published three months ago on trucks, tractors, buses and semis. The lawmakers say the rule would disrupt the heavy truck industry and cost almost a trillion dollars. They add farmers and the agricultural industry will be especially hurt by this new mandate.
Seminole County Judge Accused Of Bullying
(Tallahassee, FL) --A Seminole County judge is accused of behaving like a playground bully. The Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission announced that finding yesterday in the case of Circuit Court Judge Wayne Culver. The panel criticized his actions in two cases two years ago. In one case, Culver sentenced a man to almost 180 days in jail, but the panel ruled yesterday he denied the man due process. The panel also criticized Culver for swearing at a defendant in another case. The panel recommends a 60-day unpaid suspension, but it'll be up to the Florida Supreme Court.
Lake City Correctional Officer Accused Of Attempted Murder
(Lake City, FL) -- A North Florida correctional officer is accused of trying to kill his spouse and their child over the weekend. Police in Columbia County were called to a Lake City home yesterday after they say Officer Rance Park threatened his partner and their kid. Investigators say he physically attacked the older victim several times before firing a gun twice. Park was eventually arrested after he tried to run away. He is facing a variety of charges, including attempted murder, assault, and child abuse.
Man Charged After Robbery And Trying To Get Away Disguised As A Woman
(Chicago, IL) --A Chicago man is accused of robbing a driver at gunpoint in west suburban Elmhurst and trying to leave the scene dressed as a woman. Bennie Gates is charged with armed robbery with a firearm. Police say the crime happened Friday morning when the defendant. Authorities say Gates left the crime scene and was arrested a short time after a brief foot chase. The victim was not hurt.
