DeSantis Vetoes Left Lane Bill

(Tallahassee, FL) --Governor DeSantis has vetoed a bill that would have prohibited drivers from "camping" in the left lane. House Bill 317 would have banned motorists from driving in the left lane on any Florida road with two or more lanes and a posted speed limit of 65 miles per hour. The bill had passed almost unanimously in the state house and senate. On Friday DeSantis vetoed the bill, saying it could lead to drivers being pulled over and fined for driving in the left lane even if they are not impeding traffic flow.

Man Killed In Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Training Exercise

(Virginia Gardens, FL) -- A full investigation will be conducted after a man died in a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue training exercise. Fabian Camero was killed after a fire at a Virginia Gardens home. The 28-year-old is the son of Miami-Dade firefighter Francisco Camero. Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava says she wants a comprehensive review of protocols and practices to ensure we do everything possible to prevent an incident like this in the future.   

Oilers Force Game Seven In Stanley Cup Final

(Edmonton, FL) --The Edmonton Oilers have forced a Game Seven in the Stanley Cup Final. The Oilers dominated the Florida Panthers 5-1 in Edmonton Friday night, tying the best-of-seven hockey series at three games apiece. The teams will return to Sunrise tonight to see who wins the Stanley Cup. The Oilers are only the third team in Stanley Cup history to force a Game 7 in the Final after being down 3-0.

Warrior Games Held In Orlando

(Orlando, FL) --Hundreds of inspirational athletes are competing this week in Orlando. The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is hosting the Department of Defense Warrior Games. Injured active-duty and veteran service members compete in adaptive sports. This is the 14th year of the event, and it runs through next Sunday. Master Sergeant Ivan Morera is back for his third year. He lost a hand in Afghanistan, and he tells Spectrum News 13 this allows him and others to focus on what they can do and not what they can't do.      

World's Tallest Teenager To Play For Florida Gators

(Gainesville, FL) --The Florida Gators are adding the world's tallest teenager to their men's basketball roster. Canadian center Olivier Rioux is part of the Gators' incoming freshman class for the upcoming season. The 18-year-old is seven-foot, nine-inches tall, and has been named by Guinness World Records as the tallest living teenager. That could make him the tallest college basketball player ever, an honor which is currently held by seven-foot-eight Paul Sturgess, who played at Florida Tech.
