The BML candidate interview invitation and schedule
This weekend wasn’t especially eventful, unless you’re a PGA golfer or a Brevard Republican primary candidate. In those cases, there was a disturbance in the force. The PGA story we’ll handle during IN A HANDBASKET. As for these local Republican candidates, they have some thinking to do.
Typically, polls are meaningless, yet they can offer early momentum and food for thought as the primary election season really launches. What we had this weekend was a gathering of dedicated Republican voters who are either members of BREC or other Republican groups that are active in local politics. They are the Super Fans of voters.
Candidates either buy tables from BREC or float through the “picnic” talking with these activists. It’s a chance for voters to get up close and personal with the candidates and for candidates to lay out their platforms to voters in a central location. At the end of the day, they hold a straw poll and bragging rights (for the moment) are awarded to the victors.
It’s not scientific, it’s not even necessarily representative of the Republican electorate, yet it can be indicative of voter leanings and show candidates where work needs to be done, or maybe that their efforts are not panning out. We’ll glean the results for any relevant takeaways this morning.
It’s telling that the president of the Teamsters is headed to the Republican National Convention. That can’t feel good to the Biden camp.
What about when your government sees you as the enemy? Let’s not pretend it hasn’t happened.
