Judge Rules Against Florida's Medical Care Restrictions For Transgender Youth

(Tallahassee, FL) -- A Florida law preventing medical care for transgender children is taking a major hit.A federal judge ruled yesterday that the restrictions are unconstitutional. The decision strikes down rules approved by state boards last year that ban anyone under the age of 18 from accessing treatments for gender-affirming care, like puberty blockers. Medical organizations, like the American Academy of Pediatrics, have continued to support the treatments. The state is expected to file an appeal.

Navy Investigators Warn Service Members of Loan Scam

(Jacksonville, FL) -- Authorities are warning Florida service members about a loan scam. The Navy Criminal Investigative Service says suspects are targeting financial companies who primarily work with military personnel. Some of the impacted regions include Mayport and Jacksonville. The agency says scammers are approaching victims in public areas and asking where the nearest bank is before requesting to borrow the victim's phone. The person will claim they forgot their debit card or got locked out of their account. Similar experiences can be reported directly to the N-C-I-S.

Arrests Made In Volusia County Sex Offender Sting

(DeLand, FL) -- A dozen people are facing charges after a sex offender sting in Volusia County. The sheriff's office announced the arrests yesterday as part of Operation Creep Sweep. Deputies and those from other agencies targeted sexual predators and offenders over the last three months. The suspects range in age from 23 to 68, and Sheriff Mike Chitwood says one of the victims was 16. Two suspects are suspected of being illegal immigrants. Three suspects are accused of traveling to meet a minor for sex. Chitwood Tweets "let the predators of the world take note and stay away from Volusia County."   

Sunrise Police Officer Arrested

(Sunrise, FL) -- A police officer in Broward County is facing criminal charges. Sunrise Police Sergeant Daniel Rodriguez turned himself in yesterday. He's facing charges that include tampering with evidence, extortion and making threats to kill or do bodily harm. According to an arrest warrant, Rodriguez accused one person of theft five months ago and threatened to kill or injure them and another person. Rodriguez has been with the SPD for 17 years. The Miami Herald reports he has won 16 awards in his career, and he's also an Iraq war veteran. Rodriguez' lawyer tells 7News the charges are retaliation for his client accusing an officer of mishandling evidence in another case.

Jacksonville Named Worst Summer Vacation Spot

(Jacksonville, FL) -- A Northeast Florida city is known as the worst summer vacation destination in the country. A new Forbes Advisory study has named Jacksonville as the least favorable travel spot in the United States. The survey compared 50 of the most populated cities based on more than a dozen metrics. The River City received the lowest score due to a lack of walkability, the number of flight disruptions, and a high crime rate. Other cities who were ranked near the bottom of the list include Colorado Springs, Fresno, and Memphis.

Pepsi Partners With Bobby Flay On New "Cola-ogne"

(Purchase, NY)-- Just in time for Father's Day, Pepsi is partnering with celebrity chef Bobby Flay for a new cologne called "Smoked."  PepsiCo said they've introduced a new "Cola-ogne" that captures the summer scents of grilling and ice-cold Pepsi. The fragrance, which features notes of caramel, citrus and wood, is not available in stores but Pepsi is giving away bottles through a contest on its Instagram. In addition, select Walmart locations will be sampling the colaogne this Saturday.
