Flood Disclosure Bill Signed Into Law
(Tallahassee, FL) -- A law will soon go into effect benefiting Floridians who are looking to buy a new home. Governor Ron DeSantis signed nine bills, including one that will require people selling their residential properties to disclose past flooding incidents. The measure will make sellers fill out a form stating whether they have filed insurance claims or receive federal assistance related to flooding. The legislation will go into effect in October, a month before the end of hurricane season.
New Rule To Impact New Citizens Insurance Applicants
(Tallahassee, FL) -- A new rule will kick in later this summer for Florida homeowners who want a policy with Citizens Insurance. Insurance agents will soon be required to meet with applicants three times before they can move customers to the state insurer of last resort. The current requirement is only one meeting per person. The new law set to go into effect in July is designed to keep Citizens policy count low, which is right now at more than one-million. State lawmakers believe the insurance market is stabilizing with the latest move expected to help make more improvements.
Brevard County Mother Accused Of Falsely Reporting Child Missing
(Palm Bay, FL) -- A Brevard County mother is accused of falsely reporting her daughter missing earlier this week. Palm Bay police say 32-year-old Michelle Gordon called 9-1-1 on Tuesday to report her seven-year-old, who is on the autism spectrum, had run off. Investigators spent about three hours looking for the child before finding her safe inside Gordon's home. She was arrested, but has since been released on bond.
Former Naval Commander Had Inappropriate Images, Defense Docs
(Jacksonville, FL)-- A former Mayport Naval commander is headed to prison after pleading guilty to charges related to child sex abuse and classified documents. Gregory Edward McLean was sentenced to 13-years and four-months for distributing child sexual abuse material. He was also sentenced to ten-years for unlawfully retaining classified national defense documents. During an investigation, NCIS agents discovered the child abuse materials along with about 150 national defense documents.
DeSantis Says System Was Out To "Get" Donald Trump
(Tampa, FL) -- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is responding to the multiple felony convictions against former President Donald Trump. On X, DeSantis called the case a "testament to the political debasement of the justice system in places like New York City." DeSantis added, "If the defendant were not Donald Trump, this case would never have been brought..." Trump's sentencing on the 34 convictions in the hush money case is set for July 11th at 10 a.m.

2005, in an exclusive interview with "Vanity Fair" magazine, former FBI official W. Mark Felt said he was the mysterious informant known as "Deep Throat." Felt said he was the one who leaked information to the "Washington Post" over break-ins at the Democratic Party offices at the Watergate Hotel during the Nixon administration. The information led to the resignation of U.S. President Richard Nixon in 1974. Felt's admission marked the first time that a major potential source had claimed to be "Deep Throat."
2003, accused serial bomber Eric Robert Rudolph was taken into custody in North Carolina, five years after eluding FBI and local police. Rudolph, who was on the FBI's ten most wanted list, was the man suspected to be behind the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Park bombing which killed one person and injured 100 others. He was also a suspect in the bombing of an Alabama abortion clinic and a gay nightclub in Atlanta.
