Suspect Dead, 2 Deputies Shot Following Friday Gun Battle In Lakeland

(Lakeland, FL) --Two deputies are hospitalized following Saturday’s shootout with a suspect in Lakeland. Department sources say it started when the deputies approached what they deemed was a suspicious vehicle and asked the male occupant to get out. At that point, the vehicle started moving and the suspect opened fire at the deputies, wounding both. Additional deputies were called to the scene and more shots were exchanged before the suspect was fatally shot. One of the deputies was hospitalized in critical-but-stable condition with arm and chest wounds. The second was listed in stable condition with an arm wound.

Teen Arrested For Seminole County Shooting

(Sanford, FL) -- A teenager is facing charges for a shooting in Seminole County. It happened yesterday near Sanford outside Cabana Live on Carraway Place. The sheriff's office says 16-year-old Christopher Bouie, Jr. shot ten people after an argument got heated. One of the victims was NFL player and Volusia County native Tank Dell. All the victims are expected to survive. Bouie is facing charges that include possession of a firearm by a minor and attempted homicide. Deputies say two security guards tackled Bouie after the shooting and held him until deputies arrived.

No Injuries, Evacuation Ordered Following Saturday P.M. Fire In Palm Bay Neighborhood

(Palm Bay, FL)-- No injuries are being reported after a large brush fire prompted the evacuation of multiple homes yesterday afternoon in Palm Bay. Last night, fire officials reported that the blaze was burning inside the city's Space Force Annex. Residents of several homes along Isar Avenue Northwest had to leave their homes as the flames advanced.

Deadly Fire In Volusia County

(DeLand, FL) -- A dog is being praised as a hero in Volusia County. Danielle Rockmore tells WESH her uncle's dog, Molly, saved his life by alerting him to a kitchen fire Saturday in DeLand. Ninety-five-year-old Rufus Jackson says when the fire started, he couldn't see anything, and he had to break a window to get out. Sadly, his son didn't make it out and passed away. Rockmore identifies him as Kent Jackson. Volusia County EMS was able to get Molly out of the home, but Rockmore says she may not make it. Meanwhile, DeLand Fire ruled the fire was an accident.

Pennsylvania Resident Hit With State Revenue Dept. Demand For $34B In Back Taxes

(Mount Joy, PA)-- A Pennsylvania man is hoping he doesn't have to use his 900-dollar federal tax refund towards a 34-billion-dollar state bill for unpaid taxes. Barry Tangert of Mount Joy received the state bill last weekend from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. The bill came after his tax preparer had filed an amendment earlier this year to correct an error on his 2022 return. Tangert says he's never made enough money to owe 34-billion dollars. He says he spoke with a Department of Revenue representative, who told him, "You had a good year."
