Two Juveniles Arrested For Carjacking And Battery In Cocoa Beach

(Cocoa Beach, FL)-- Two boys are accused of carjacking in Brevard County. Cocoa Beach Police announced yesterday they arrested two juvenile males for carjacking and battery. The arrests date back to an incident Saturday afternoon at the beach end of South Third Street. Police say when the owners of a car were standing at the trunk, one suspect got into the car and tried to drive off. The owners, though, stopped the suspect by grabbing his arm. That's when the second suspect allegedly started attacking the owners, but police say they fought back and successfully defended their property. The CBPD says they commend the bravery and quick thinking of the victims, whose actions prevented further harm and facilitated the apprehension of the suspects.

Five Arrested After Shooting At Tampa Police

(Tampa, FL) -- Five people are in custody for allegedly shooting at police officers in Tampa. Officers were trying to pull over a driver for reckless driving last night in the area of North 43rd Street and East Hanna Ave. Tampa Police, though, say someone in the car fired at the officers. Police gave chase, and when the car stopped, five people got out and ran. The TPD says they were quickly arrested, though, and no one was hurt.

(Gainesville, FL) -- The Florida High School Athletic Association is considering a plan to sanction competitive video gaming. The organization met in Gainesville yesterday to discuss the potential interest of offering esports programs. Officials reviewed results of a recent survey that went out to more than 400 schools. More than half of the schools showed interest in the proposal. Nearly two dozen states have already sanctioned esports in their schools, including Georgia and Alabama. The association says it's still in the early stages of the process.
