Fairness. It’s kind of a self-evident concept…for those who have common sense. For governments, though, it’s difficult. We have several such stories in play today.
First, the NAIA, a collegiate sports governing body for small schools, has banned transletes in women’s sports. But, the Biden administration’s Education Secretary can’t tell if there are physical differences in men and women.
Brevard Schools have a discipline problem. Number one, they base the decisions on factors other than the offense and its severity. When social concerns are the driving factor in how and who you discipline, you’re missing the mark. What’s fair about that?
Brevard County will move forward with plans to have cities pay more for lifeguards on their beaches. Why can’t TDC tax dollars go to this purpose? The commission is also taking some heat for how it deals with public concerns and comment. The chair of the commission, Trans-Kristine, seems to think the job would require too much if the commission gave proper attention to the public.
If we have time, Federal District Chief Judge Mark Walker is dabbling in Florida’s politics again with a ruling on the teacher pronoun use law.
