Children Can Now Work More Than 30 Hours A Week

(Tallahassee, FL) --A bill that allows children the option to work more than 30 hours a week has been signed into law by Governor DeSantis. Called the Employment and Curfew of Minors, it allows 16- and 17-year-olds the ability to work more than 30 hours a week with parental permission, and home schoolers will need no permission. The bill goes into effect July first.

Prowler Arrested In Volusia County

(Edgewater, FL) --A man police describe as a neighborhood prowler is behind bars in Volusia County. Edgewater Police announced yesterday that Scott Winkler was arrested Saturday. An out-of-town resident called the EPD to report seeing on her surveillance camera that a man was walking around her home on Sanchez Ave. She sent police the video, and within minutes, police say officers found Winkler hiding behind a fence. Winkler is charged with loitering and prowling, but more charges are likely.

Carnival Cruise Lines Cancels Freedom Departure

(Port Canaveral, FL) -- A fire is disrupting plans for some cruise passengers. Carnival Cruise Lines announced yesterday it's ship, Freedom, will not be departing as scheduled today or Friday from Port Canaveral. The company says there was a fire on the ship Saturday. No one was hurt, but an exhaust funnel was damaged and needs repairs. Witnesses say the ship was hit by lightning. Carnival says passengers on both canceled cruises will get full refunds and future cruise credit.   

Unexploded Weapon Found In Jacksonville Yard

(Jacksonville, FL) --There's a mystery surrounding a discovery in a Jacksonville man's backyard. Mathew Sims found an unexploded military weapon in his yard on 15th Street East on Wednesday. He says he found it while his dog was digging in the yard. He called it in, and the bomb squad responded to his home. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office estimates it was decades old. The weapon was taken away, and no one was hurt. Sims tells Action News Jax he doesn't know how it got there, but he's glad it was safely disposed of. 

VA French Fry Dispute Turns Violent

(Falmouth, VA) --A disagreement in Virginia over McDonald's French fries has resulted in two officers being injured and five people being arrested. The incident happened in Falmouth, Virginia Thursday night when a man refused to leave the restaurant after becoming upset about his order of fries. The man tried to flee before being tackled by police and was arrested. The suspect's co-workers then surrounded the police car and were pepper-sprayed. In the melee, an officer was allegedly thrown to the ground by his neck. He and another officer had to go to the hospital for their injuries.

Adam Sandler Co-Star Says "Happy Gilmore 2" Is In The Works

(Los Angeles, CA) -- One of the "Happy Gilmore" co-stars says Adam Sandler is working on a sequel to the comedy classic. Christopher McDonald played Gilmore's rival Shooter McGavin in the 1996 film. In a recent radio interview, McDonald said he ran into Sandler about two weeks ago and that Sandler showed him a first-draft script of "Happy Gilmore 2." McDonald said, "It's in the works, fans demand it." He also joked that the radio producers should cut that part out of the interview in case the project didn't pan out.
