Florida Couple Accused Of Operating Nationwide Human Trafficking Ring

(Tallahassee, FL) -- A Florida couple is accused of operating a national human trafficking ring. Homeland Security agents say Marquett James and Alyson Marquett forced women to take part in the operation by threatening violence. The suspects reportedly branded the victims with tattoos, controlled their finances, and forced them to engage in sex acts throughout the state and other parts of the country. James is also accused of opening multiple businesses to launder the money. The couple is facing a variety of felony charges, including human trafficking and sexual battery. Attorney General Ashley Moody says statewide prosecutors will handle the case.

Plane Crashes In Polk County

(Bartow, FL) -- A pilot is credited with taking action to avoid tragedy after a plane crash in Polk County. Fire Rescue says an experimental aircraft crashed yesterday in Fort Meade near Lake Buffum Road West. The plane caught fire, but two people inside got out OK and did not need to go to the hospital. Fire Rescue says the pilot's quick thinking allowed them to avoid serious injuries while also not endangering anyone on the ground. There's no word on a cause. The FAA and NTSB have been notified.   

Holly Hill Police Chief Resigns

(Holly Hill, FL)-- A city in Volusia County finds itself in need of a new police chief. Holly Hill Police Chief Jeffrey Miller resigned yesterday. City Manager Joseph Forte says Miller and others in the police department were accused of inappropriate incidents. When Miller was told he was being suspended pending an investigation, Forte says Miller verbally resigned, effective immediately. A captain and sergeant facing similar accusations are suspended with pay.     

Putnam County Woman Arrested For Trying To Sell Child

(Palatka, FL) -- A Putnam County woman is accused of trying to sell her child. Palatka Police announced this week that Jessica Woods was arrested last week. The 33-year-old allegedly tried to sell her one-year-old daughter to a stranger for 500 dollars. Police say Woods and her child had been seen for days outside a store, and when an employee approached to see if she needed anything, that's when she made the offer.The employee refused, and Woods then walked away and left the child behind. The employee took the child to the police department to report what happened. Woods is charged with child abuse, child neglect and abandonment of a child. 

Student Pilot Charged After Trying To Break Into Cockpit Of Alaska Airlines Flight

(Alexandria, VA)-- A student pilot from northern Virginia is facing charges after allegedly trying to break into the cockpit of a commercial jet. Nineteen-year-old Nathan Jones was arrested on March 3rd and charged with interfering with a flight crew. Witnesses say Jones made three separate attempts to enter the cockpit of an Alaska Airlines flight from San Diego to Dulles International Airport. When asked what he was doing, Jones reportedly told flight attendants he was "testing them." His lawyer plans to ask for a mental evaluation, saying Jones has been placed on suicide watch by his jailers in Alexandria. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

McDonalds Launches Perfume With French Fry Fragrance

(Undated) -- French fries are served in one version or another around the world, and now they also come in a bottle. In a post on X, McDonald's Japan has announced a limited-time perfume collection. It simulates the smell of McDonald's French fries. According to "Fresh Plaza", there are a trio of scents: the classic salted fries, seaweed fries, and garlic fries. The French fry perfume is only available in Japan. There's no word yet on when it'll be available or the price.
