Florida's Legislative Session Ends After Budget Passes
(Tallahassee, FL) -- The 60-day state legislative session is over. The Senate followed the House's lead and passed the nearly 120-billion-dollar state budget. It includes a three-percent pay raise for state employees and a one-point-eight-billion-dollar increase for public schools. It sets aside seven-billion-dollars for Everglades restoration and water resource protection and fully funds Medicaid and KidCare programs.
Over 100 Flights At MCO Delayed Or Canceled
(Orlando, FL) -- Bad weather is affecting travel plans in Central Florida. Orlando International Airport reported almost 500 flight delays and cancellations yesterday. That's over 40 percent of all scheduled flights, and it's the highest percentage in the country. Southwest Airlines seems to be the most affected. The problem appears to be severe weather across the state. This came on what was expected to be the airport's seventh-busiest travel day of the Spring Break season. MCO officials advise checking your flight status today before arriving at the airport.
Deadly Shooting In Volusia County
(DeLand, FL) -- One person is behind bars after a deadly shooting in Volusia County. DeLand Police arrested Edgar Martinez Hernandez after a shooting Saturday. The victim was found dead in the road in the area of West Beresford Ave and South Parsons Ave. The 22-year-old Martinez Hernandez is charged with possessing a weapon as a state felon. He has not been charged in the shooting, but police say he's the prime suspect.

Residents and visitors notice it's more peaceful, but business owners may have mixed emotions. Controversial $1.7 Million Public Toilet Has Arrived in S.F.'s Noe Valley
(San Francisco, CA)-- A controversial public toilet with a one-point-seven million dollar price tag has been delivered to its resting place in San Francisco. After multiple setbacks and public outcry about the cost of the single-stall modular facility, it was offloaded yesterday in Noe Valley [[ NOH-ee VAL-ee ]]. It will be installed soon. After coming under fire for the cost, city officials changed their minds about purchasing the toilet. But two outside vendors offered to cover the expense, and now it is being installed at no cost to the city.
